Best New Food Truck: 2010 Reader’s Poll

It’s time for the 4th Annual Midtown Lunch Readers’ Poll. Your nominations are in, and between now and the end of the year we’ll be asking all of you to vote for the best Midtown Lunches in a whole range of categories. You can only vote once per category (so choose wisely), and official results will be posted after the new year.

The food truck train kept rolling in 2010, and despite all the obstacles to setting up shop in Midtown it doesn’t seem to be slowing down- despite the efforts of a certain city council member. And even more notable than that, we finally got fusion tacos in Midtown! Here are the nominees for best new savory food truck:

Vote for your favorite after the jump…

  • Grrrr, it’s gonna be Eddies or Korilla I think..outside chance is Mexicue or Taim.

  • As its the only one that has ever parked anywhere near where I work/live, I’m voting Comme Ci, Comme Ca …. Luckily its soooooooooooo delicious that i’d probably vote for it anyway!

    • What’s your favorite dish from Comme ci comme ca?
Want to give them another try. =)

      • I really enjoy the Kofta, Beef and Merguez sandwiches…especially with the new hot sauce. I think my favorite is probably the Kofta

I actually have only had their chicken, but I think its fantastic… My coworker says good thinks about their merguez, but I haven’t tried to deviate too much yet.

The chicken is well seasoned with lots of herbs and its cooked just right.

I tried the chicken and rice and thought it was a bit too salty. All the grilled veggies was good though.

My fave meal from them is chicken over cous cous.

where do you work/live? If you let people know, more trucks will come there!

  • Would be nice if Mexicue came around midtown east

  • Ok, Eddie’s it is. I need more trucks in my lunch diet though.

Eddie’s is in your diet. A bar pie is only 270 calories. a Regular bar pie is 6 weight watchers points. A whole wheat bar pie is 4 weight watchers points

Comme ci, comme ca is the only truck food I’ve had that doesn’t taste like truck food. It tastes like a home cooked meal by a 5 star chef. He’s more than 4 blocks away and I still manage to get there for a good meal. It’s what makes working in Manhattan so great. You can’t get this anywhere else. Literally a gourmet chef in a truck. Love it!

  • what – no Rickshaw? :-)

  • I’m surprised Comme ci, comme ca is in the running. I’m not surprised Taim isn’t.

  • Mexicue is usually on 55th between Park and Lex on Mondays.

My vote def goes to Comme Ci Comme Ca, I love their Veggie Cous Cous and veggie cigars. I’m in love with the herb de Provence they always use!
I even started placing my orders over the phone now!
    I’m hooked!
Plus for some strange reason I think they have a good vibe, Chef Samir is so cool!

I consult in lower Manhattan but have made the trek to Comme Ci, Comme Ca because it is just that damn good. And not just the amazing (and for some reason ultra affordable) food, but also good because Chef Samir has a good vibe and everyone just starts smiling.. Its a great experience to be there.

Joining up with some of the others, I like Taim, Korilla, and Mexicue, but my vote has to go to Comme Ci, Comme Ca.

Samir (who looks very similar to the photo on his truck)is from Casablanca and serves Moroccan food.

He had a rough start this summer when he broke his arm in a biking accident the day after he opened. He still showed up with his arm in traction along with his crew who helped him out until he was done with operations and physical therapy.

I don’t go crazy with the Merguez and usually get the chicken sandwich, but his soups are very good as well.

  • wow, Taim Mobile with a huge come back.
